It's a little hard in the beginning, before you learn the patrol paths, and know when to lure, you will spend some gold in the beginning and maybe become frustrated but relax, training makes perfection, and after you have some experience this run is very very easy.
It's hard to explain all the run, DL the video, and watch very careful, after that put your questions here.
And after take the quest from ghost, don't forget to target yourself or SV/AV won't work (Everyone do this in the beggining )

Well, first of all, thanks for the reply. I have seen the video already- the run itself indeed seems to be very easy there. It was the reason I decided to try going to the UW. I am a longtime GW player, but dont play with people much. And thats why i have never been there. Both full parties for quests or dual runs require people.
As for the money, I am willing to spend some cash on the entry fee, if it pays off in the end. But still, a bit of advice isa good thing, before going the route of trial and error. Thats why I asked.
How have the drops been for everyone? Done about 10-15 runs it seems and ive had a grand total of 3 Gold Hand Axes and 2 Globs of Ecto... (and about 6million keys). Most of the runs barely pay for themselves... nothing seems to drop.
well, yesterday was a good day for me, did about 10 runs, 1 run had 4 ecto's, there was another with 2 and 2 without, rest i got 1 ecto each run.
today it wasn't very good, about 8 runs, got 3 runs where i got 1 ecto. not very good, but I still keep golds almost every time. I don't try to keep farming @ one place to prevent farming code kicking in.

haha don't actually really care. Nice video of the technique, though, Koning, it's pretty much exactly the way I explained it on page 3. Still wish we could dodge coldfires and pick up loot faster :P. I guess teotuf has an interesting duo build for that posted, maybe we should try it sometime.
Yes I wanna thank you again for the luring technique, it really became soo fast now It's really not hard to lure them, only to keep em on you cause 1 group likes to run off when you get back too far.
Like in that duo build idea (need to try it, in theory it looks nice (dunno if ppl already tried it)), assasin might have some skills to dodge the coldfires. Now I don't really know assasins cause I dont have 1 myself, but maybe shadowstepping to smites works (and leaving the patrol behind).
Than again, we need to drop mantra of earth, but with the Ele's high energy and AV for graspings that would'nt be a very big problem. (the defense can be raised with armor of earth if needed)

The anti-farming code shouldn't be kicking in when you go to a place like the Underworld. The same goes for the elite missions and the Fissure of Woe. So you shouldn't have to worry about that.
As for the build, I'm going to give it a try later tonight if we get favor. I watched the video of it in action and was blown away. Impressive stuff. I'm probably going to give the duo build a try too. It can get kind of dull being alone all the time.

Well, as Koning made the original post, he's the main guy to ask, I guess, but I give you permission to post all the minor tweaks I contributed in this thread (mainly pulling all the graspings at once in the beginning)
as for the anti farming code, my VwK mesmer caught it badly after farming UW (entering from toa all the time) for some time. Graspings didn't even drop for me and only half of the smites dropped something (ofcourse not ecto).
My Elementalist don't use to go to UW until this great build (kudos to Koning), so no chance for any kind of anti-farm code at least at UW , but ... i must say the drops he's getting is crap and more crap, not a single ecto, 2 or 3 gold drops, chests = only purples, real bad drops.
But if i get my VwK Rt who has done UW hundreds of times, i normally get 1/2 ectos each 2/3 runs and some decent drops.
I started running thing build a few weeks ago when someone posted a little blurb about it in a different thread. At one point I got curious as to how many Smites I could get at once. First time I had seen +20 smites die since the spirit bond nerf. It would appear that they will very reluctant to run if they are out of energy; I guess this is because they think if they run off, they can't heal themselves anyway and will just get smacked. The time you wait after SV seems to affect it, too, no matter how many smites you have. I noticed if I wait about 12-13 seconds(with enchanting staff) then cast sandstorm, they rarely run off on me, but if I wait less sometimes, they run, even though there's no way they could have energy left(23 smites triggering SV for 10 seconds).
As far as Colds go, I decided to screw around with them after a run, and actually had some success. I was able to kill a mob of 2 Colds and have about 60 HP left over. I'd imagine a mob of 3 would probably be able to kill you. The AoE can actually help you in this case, since Sandstorm can force them out of their Ward Against Harm, at which point you can EQ/AS by watching for the little crystal thing that comes up prior to a Maelstrom. It took a long time and I don't plan to every do it again, but at least if you aggro 2 Colds and get Shard storm'ed it's not necessarily the end of the run. :P
As for the drops, I haven't had much of a problem. I get one ecto almost every run, and if not, I usually get multiples the next one(had two dry runs in a row one day, got 3 ecto the next run). Like I said, been running this for a few weeks; gotten 12 ectos in about 18 runs(this counts my wiped runs due to bad aggro/lag; nothing like running behind Benton and getting hit in the back by Aatxe that are still on the stairs...like rubber band lag, but you never bounce back.)
Haven't watched the video since I've the of how to run it, but looks like a great guide. Good job. Also, if anyone wants to watch a live run to see it in person(if you have trouble getting past the Darkness, etc.), PM me in game. IGN: Noob Attunement. Again, great guide.
just tried this build, need a few runs to get the build working for me. After 10 runs or somethin i got 2 perfect runs. Total of 4 ecto's, 1 rq 10 stormbow and 1 golden twin hammer so i think it's been worth
Darn it all, whenever I want to test it, I never have favor....
Judgeing from the video, though, I'm quite pleased at what this build has become. And here I was, using it on kirins and imps.... Never thought it'd be the next solo UW and surely not the fastest either.

Me and 2 friends were doing UW Solo. 7 runs for everyone.
Friend 1: 7 runs 0 ectos
Me: 7 runs and 5 ectos
Friend2: Quit after 4 runs, he had 12 ECTOS...
omg 12 ecto in 4 run! thats cool
I did 6 runs today, 2 runs had 2 ecto, 3 runs i had 1, only 1 run nothing. so 7 ecto in 6 run isn't bad...(especially if you consider the lenght of 10 min )

Perhaps those lags are a way of telling you to stop wasting your money? The droprates from these smites is beyond fcking pathetic. In over 40 runs ive had 4 ectos, 6 golds and 1 black dye. Half of the golds and a black dye came from the first lot of Grasping Darkness to get out the entrance hall!
Anyway i got sick of the smites... i took this build Kirin farming. No entre fee, shit drops guaranteed w/ decent drops a bonus. Even by pure merching and gold drops i'm netting more money than those damn smites. Just needed some minor adjustments... no running skill, Crystal Wave to finish off Undergrowth, EoE to make sure all Kirins die and GoEP.
